Uroš and Dragan
1. Talking Tom
Despite its un-Slovenian name, Talking Tom was actually created by Slovenian co-founders Iza and Samo Login. Their world-wide dominance in the app market has led to Talking Tom (and friends) being downloaded over 1 billion times in over 230 countries, currently making the co-founders the richest Slovenians in the world.
2. Melania Trump
Slovenian-born Melania Trump is the second-ever First Lady of the United States to be born outside of the United States. Married to businessman, Donald Trump, who won the 2016 U.S. presidential race, Melania is a former fashion model, and was described by Manolo Blahnik as a ‘true beauty’. She was born as Melanija Knavs in Sevnica in the south of Slovenia where a local pastry shop has created a 'white and gold' cake in her honour.
3. Slavoj Žižek
Author of more than 75 works, this Marxist philosopher and cultural critic is in fact Slovene. His distinguished presentation style (and strong opinions) has made him a world-wide celebrity commentator. He’s been described as the ‘Borat of philosophy, churning out ever more outrageous statements for scandalous effect’. He’s the international director of the Birkbeck Institute for Humanities in London, and he regularly writes for The Guardian. It’s fair to say that he’s a little eccentric and recently revealed for The Guardian that he stores clothes in kitchen cabinets and actually doesn’t know his house number.
4. Igor Akrapovič
If you’re into motorbikes, you will probably recognise the name Akrapovič. This company is the Apple of the motorcycle world. Started in Igor Akrapovič’s own garage, Akrapovič has now grown to become a multiple award winning motorcycle exhaust design company. They took the world by storm when they introduced their signature hexagonally shaped muffler to the motorcycle market, and with their high quality, titanium exhausts they've got a huge, passionate worldwide following of motorbike fans as the exhausts are almost 45 % lighter.
5. Goran Dragič
NBA player Goran Dragič plays for the mighty Miami Heat. Playing alongside NBA giants such as Dwayne Wade and Luol Deng, Dragič recently agreed a $90 million contract to stay another 5 years at Heat – an agreement reportedly making him the 20th richest Slovenian in the world.
